      Greektown Taste of the Danforth sponsored by Pilaros is one of Toronto's signature events\,
      Showcasing Hellenic cuisine and culture. You can enjoy mouth-watering Greek cuisine such as souvlaki and spanakopita. The festival also offers the multicultural tastes of the city. The street festival is in the heart of Toronto's Greektown\, and attracts hungry mouths from all over the world for this renowned street festival. They come for the food\, the entertainment\, the atmosphere\, and to be Greek for the weekend!
      
      Our first year saw 5\,000 people attend the event\, with rain one day and a scorching sun the second. Only 23 restaurateurs participated that first year\, selling an eclectic mix of spectacular "tastes" from tasting tables outside. But everyone felt good about what they were doing.
      
      After the first year\, a thorough analysis of Toronto's weather led us to move the event to the second weekend of August. The number of attendees swelled to 100\,000. By the end of the third year\, the City agreed to a partial closure of the Danforth-and the crowds grew to 500\,000! The Danforth has been closed during the Greektown Taste of the Danforth sponsored by Pilaros for the complete weekend ever since 1997\, with the support of the City of Toronto and Toronto Police Service's Divisions 55 and 54.
      
      Today\, over 1 million people attend the annual event\, coming from Ontario\, Quebec the northern USA\, and around the world. They come for the food\, the entertainment\, and the atmosphere.

      Its a Halloween Lantern show where all kinds of eerie wire and paper sculptures light up the river bank.  
      
      The lantern show will extend from 7 Mill St all the way along the river bank to 13 Mill St. We will have all the usual suspects at No 7.
      
      Joined next door at No 9. by Creature Creation Competition competitors for the $999.99 cash prize for best in show... and so as not to embroil anyone with the judging... the public will decide.
      
      At No 11\, an opportunity for to enjoy shopping at the Bizzare Bazzar market and an opportunity for local merchants to give the public a rich retail experience in the setting of a ghostly harbour with a sunken sail ship.
      
      And of course to end the tour... 13 Mill Street. Strange cocktails and nibbles on fingers and spiders a perfect address for the event. 
      
      Tim Murtons TWILIGHT ZOO will be active during the last three weeks in October.
      
      In preparation\, during the last two weeks of September there will be classes held at the Legion where there is loads of space and a bar. It is highly recommended that you sign up for these because it offers many benefits. The last sessions were a blast!  Folks of all ages and all walks of life made new friends! They were creative together and had a load of fun. That is what this project is all about... economic development through the arts\, building community and having a good time. We will bring in thousands of visitors promoting this spirit.
      
      The finale will be a big party straddling all four lots. The party theme will be Zombies! The event will be called ZOMBOOZIE! Music\, food drink\, family fun\, easy dress-up and makeup on site. Winners of the Creature Creation Competition will be announced and everyone will have participated in a unique event to be remembered for the rest of their days.

      For 10 years the generosity of our supporters has significantly contributed to our status as Canada’s preeminent international environmental film and video festival and for this we THANK YOU.  In 2009 Planet in Focus celebrates 10 years of positively affecting the minds and actions of audiences\, championing the global growth of environmental cinema\, celebrating the stellar achievements of environmental heroes and acting as a global leader in environmental awareness and education!   We are appealing to you today to help make our 10th anniversary programming the best yet and to play an instrumental role in program sustainability and growth over the next ten years.
      
      Environmental Awareness\, Education\, Community Engagement\, and Solutions are the cornerstones of Planet in Focus’s activities and in today’s world the importance of Planet in Focus continues to play a critical role. To effectively deliver our core programs and to ensure healthy growth over the next ten years and beyond\, we continue to rely on individuals who understand the value of supporting such important programs.  
       
      Planet in Focus’ Growing Impact
      
      * Our 10th Anniversary Festival ~ October 21-25\, 2009 We are planning a number of special events and programs to mark this special occasion including our Spotlight Program - Fast Forward: Toward a 2020 Vision - which looks Ten Years Forward and presents original and expressive works that examine the challenges that lie ahead and the solutions that will deliver real and effective change.
      
      * Canadian and International Touring Program: In the past year\, Planet in Focus has presented dozens of films in over 25 communities to thousands of new audiences across the country.   But it doesn’t end there! Throughout 2009 Planet in Focus will have a distinguished presence in China\, Kuwait\, Singapore\, Sarajevo and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City!
      
      * Mini Environmental Festival Series: In the spring of 2009 we traveled across the province and brought Planet in Focus to four schools in underserved districts across Ontario (Fort Francis\, Sault Ste Marie\, Ottawa\, Dundas). This tour is the first of its kind in the province and has been made possible through the generous support of the Ontario Teacher’s Federation!
      
      * Primary Partner in Green Screen Toronto a groundbreaking initiative to green the film production industry – the first of its kind in the world!
      
      * Expanding Youth Camera Action video training program to include an intensive March Break camp (in addition to our annual summer two-week program)
      
      * Monthly Screenings and Special Events: Monthly screenings take place at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and York Region year round. Recently\, we hosted an Evening of Conversation with Carlo Petrini (President and Founder of Slow Food).
      
      *Planet in Focus: OTTAWA In June 1020 the Planet in Focus International Environmental Film and Video Festival will officially launch a satellite annual festival in the Nation’s Capital in partnership with the Canadian Museum of Nature.
