      Leo Lionni's exquisite collage works are ideally suited for Mermaid’s unique approach to stage adaptation. The three Caldecott Honor books Mermaid has chosen for its tribute\, SWIMMY\, INCH BY INCH and FREDERICK\, are among Lionni’s most beloved works. Their images are strikingly beautiful\, and their texts are whimsical yet wistful.
      
      Swimmy is a tiny insignificant fish in the vast ocean who uses ingenuity to fend off danger. Frederick\, a mouse who is a poet from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail\, makes everyday life an artful experience. The story of Inch by Inch features a lovable inchworm who is very proud of his facility for measuring absolutely everything\, including a robin's tail\, a flamingo's neck\, a toucan's beak\, a heron's legs\, and a nightingale's song.
      
      All these creatures provide wonderful scope for translation to puppet theatre through the gentle storytelling style which has brought international acclaim to Mermaid Theatre. Together with producerMark Walk (Pigface\, Ruby)\, he designed the unit called OhGr. The new moniker\, which had been in the works just prior to Skinny Puppy's end\, did not see the light of day until the late '90s due to contractual drama with Rick Rubin's American Recordings. Ogre had anticipated releasing the debut album entitled WELT that same year\, but music industry politics and egos played into ignoring the record. It wasn't until 1999 that Ogre's legal bindings to the record company expired and WELT was finally rescued. Tracks were revamped and OhGr inked a deal with Spitfire Records instead\, and the album was issued in February 2001. Far more positive and motivated compared to the years he spent with Skinny Puppy\, Nivek Ogre appeared thrilled with his OhGr and eager to make it worthwhile. Tickets: $20 Doors: 8pm Show: 9pm

      About Garrett Mason:
      Garret was born and raised in Truro\, Nova Scotia. His father is Canadian blues legend Dutch Mason. Dutch Mason stopped playing guitar before Garrett was born due to crippling arthritis in his hands. Nevertheless\, he taught Garrett the structure of the Blues and influenced his sound. In 2005\, Garrett’s talent was recognized when he received a Juno for Best Blues Album. Recently\, Garret opened for five-time Grammy Award winner Buddy Guy at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival in New Brunswick\, Canada.  Garrett has also performed at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis\, Tennessee and the Blues Festival in Omaha\, Nebraska.
      
      The History of the Tree
      91 years ago\, a terrible tragedy forever linked the lives of the people of Boston and the citizens of Halifax\, Nova Scotia. On December 6\, 1917\, a French freighter full of munitions and a Norwegian vessel collided in Halifax Harbor causing a nuclear-sized blast and a subsequent tidal wave that leveled the town and killed more than 1\,700 people. The citizens of Boston were among the first to arrive in Halifax with a "rescue train" full of medical supplies\, blankets and building materials. Much of the money for the aid came from donations made by ordinary citizens. Even Boston school children pooled their lunch money to help the victims of this huge disaster. The people of Nova Scotia have never forgotten the speed and generosity with which the residents of Boston responded. In appreciation\, Nova Scotia sends a tree to Boston every year to express its thanks for the city’s compassionate response and to help spread the spirit of the season.
