      LA BBQ Festival20\,000 BBQ lovers from San Diego to Santa Barbara are expected for this one-of-a-kind BBQ extravaganza featuring the country’s top pit masters from Texas\, Missouri\, North Caroline and Mississippi showcase ribs\, pork\, briskets and more. Among those that will prepare authentic Kansas City ribs\, Carolina pulled pork\, Memphis baby back ribs\, and Texas brisket will be Southside Market from Elgin\, TX\, Salt Lick BBQ from Driftwood\, Texas\, Ubon’s Championship BBQ from Yazoo\, Mississippi\, and LC BBQ from Kansas City\, Missouri.  The event is hoping to attract one more pitmaster from Memphis to complete the representation from the various BBQ capitals.
      Essential Chocolate Collection and Leyna’s Kitchen (winner of the “Best Cupcake” in the 2008 LA Cupcake Challenge) will provide delicious desserts to compliment the great food\, while Firestone and Sierra Nevada will sponsor the beer garden to help wash it all down.
      A Johnny Cash cover band and a Beatles cover band (Ticket to Ride) will provide entertainment on Friday. Saturday’s musical entertainment will include Country Gone Awry and Metal shop\, which is a tribute band who covers Poison\, Guns N’ Roses\, and Bon Jovi.
      The two-day Los Angeles BBQ Festival will take place on the Santa Monica Beach North Parking Lot\, adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier\, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will feature a beer garden and live music.General admission is $10\, and each pit master will sell their ‘Que for $10 as well. “Fast Pass” admission is available for $50\, and will include admission for both days\, shorter lines\, a VIP gift bag and a shirt from the Festival.

      New Additions to the Taste – Cool Off With Your Own Ice Cream
      One of the new additions to this year’s Taste of Santa Monica is the molecular ice cream lab\, hosted and run by The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles.  The workshops\, led by the Academic Director of the International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles Chef Christophe Bernard\, are interactive and allow attendees to create their own ice cream concoctions almost instantly. 
      In addition to the workshops\, attendees will also have the chance to learn about ice cream and gelato recipes from some of Santa Monica’s finest chefs during the chef demos. Taste attendees will be able to vote on their favorite flavor from this year’s event. 
      Also new to this year’s Taste event is a Great Gourmet Giveaway. The lucky winner will dine at 50 of Santa Monica’s top restaurants. To enter\, purchase raffle tickets at the event which enters you in a drawing where you could win 50 gift certificates from an array of Santa Monica’s finest dining establishments.  
      Entertainment
      This year’s Taste of Santa Monica emcee will be Jamie Kaler\, who stars as Mike Callahan in MY BOYS\, Sony Pictures Television's comedy series for TBS that is in its second season. An accomplished actor\, writer and stand-up comic\, Kaler's list of credits is as diverse as his career including recurring roles on "Will and Grace\," "The King of Queens\," "Significant Others" and the Seth Green animated show\, "Robot Chicken." His recent film credits include "The Family Stone"\, "Dead and Deader" and "Spanglish."
      Seats will also be available for attendees who want to listen to nostalgic music played by a live band at the event. Guests can enjoy the Southern California sunshine\, but will also be pleased to find plenty of shade throughout the event site. And order a refreshing cocktail from the cash bar that will be set up at the center of the pier deck.
      Wine Garden
      For guests who wish to pair their delicious treats with a fine glass of wine\, separate tickets are available for the popular wine garden located within the event site. Garden revelers have unlimited in-and-out access to the area\, so they can continue to indulge both their palettes and appetites. Wine Garden tickets are an additional $15 per person and may be purchased the day of the event.

      Founded in 1981\, the American Film Market (AFM) has grown steadily to become the premiere global marketplace where Hollywood’s decision-makers and trendsetters all gather under one roof. Unlike a film festival\, the AFM is a marketplace where production and distribution deals are closed. In just eight days\, more than $800 million in deals will be sealed — on both completed films and those that haven’t started shooting yet — making AFM the must-attend industry event.
      The AFM transforms Santa Monica. The Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel and the Le Merigot Beach Hotel are converted into a busy marketplace. All 23 screens on the Santa Monica Promenade and the surrounding community become AFM screening rooms for the entire eight-day event and eight digital and video screening rooms are added just for the AFM. Participants may view more than 900 screenings of approximately 500 films - 31 new films every two hours - the majority of them world or U.S. premieres. Titles range from big budget blockbusters that will be released by the major studios in the U.S.\, to lower budget art and genre films recognized at international film festivals\, all destined for theaters and television around the world.
      With 8\,000 attendees\, 900 screenings\, and seminars programmed by leading industry organizations\, the American Film Market continues to be the pivotal destination for independent filmmakers and business people from all over the world.
