Hansel eventually worked for 'Life Magazine' while Otto freelanced for 'Life\,' 'Time' and others. In 1941\, the couple relocated to a farm in Santa Rosa where they continued their celebrated work depicting the harsh realities of unemployment\, migrant life and poverty.

Many of its members were political refugees from Nazi Germany who had emerged from the great Bauhaus movement of the early 1900s. Wildenhain herself was a renowned potter of international reputation who remained at Pond Farm even after the other original members scattered. She died there in 1985. A unique collection of her work has come to the Sonoma County Museum through multiple gifts.

DESCRIPTION: [Full details at http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/4245517/ ] In 2001\, Tom Golden\, the unofficial mayor of the small Northern California town of Freestone in Sonoma County\, donated his collection of works by renowned artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude to the Sonoma County Museum. Golden's personal and professional relationship with the artists began when he met them during the 1974 public hearings for of their project Running Fence\, Sonoma and Marin counties\, 1972-1976. Golden went on to manage or assist with a number of the artists' large scale projects including 'The Umbrellas\, Joint Project for Japan and the USA\, 1984-1991 and\, more recently\, the as yet unrealized Over the River\, Project for the Arkansas River. Actively engaged with the art he so loved for nearly 30 years\, Golden passed away at his home in late 2002.

Many of its members were political refugees from Nazi Germany who had emerged from the great Bauhaus movement of the early 1900s. Wildenhain herself was a renowned potter of international reputation who remained at Pond Farm even after the other original members scattered. She died there in 1985. A unique collection of her work has come to the Sonoma County Museum through multiple gifts.

Golden's personal and professional relationship with the artists began when he met them during the 1974 public hearings for of their project Running Fence\, Sonoma and Marin counties\, 1972-1976. Golden went on to manage or assist with a number of the artists' large scale projects including 'The Umbrellas\, Joint Project for Japan and the USA\, 1984-1991 and\, more recently\, the as yet unrealized Over the River\, Project for the Arkansas River. Actively engaged with the art he so loved for nearly 30 years\, Golden passed away at his home in late 2002.

Many of its members were political refugees from Nazi Germany who had emerged from the great Bauhaus movement of the early 1900s. Wildenhain herself was a renowned potter of international reputation who remained at Pond Farm even after the other original members scattered. She died there in 1985. A unique collection of her work has come to the Sonoma County Museum through multiple gifts.

Golden went on to manage or assist with a number of the artists' large scale projects including 'The Umbrellas\, Joint Project for Japan and the USA\, 1984-1991 and\, more recently\, the as yet unrealized Over the River\, Project for the Arkansas River. Actively engaged with the art he so loved for nearly 30 years\, Golden passed away at his home in late 2002.

Golden's personal and professional relationship with the artists began when he met them during the 1974 public hearings for of their project Running Fence\, Sonoma and Marin counties\, 1972-1976. Golden went on to manage or assist with a number of the artists' large scale projects including 'The Umbrellas\, Joint Project for Japan and the USA\, 1984-1991 and\, more recently\, the as yet unrealized Over the River\, Project for the Arkansas River. Actively engaged with the art he so loved for nearly 30 years\, Golden passed away at his home in late 2002.

Hansel eventually worked for 'Life Magazine' while Otto freelanced for 'Life\,' 'Time' and others. In 1941\, the couple relocated to a farm in Santa Rosa where they continued their celebrated work depicting the harsh realities of unemployment\, migrant life and poverty.

DESCRIPTION: [Full details at http://upcoming.yahoo.com/event/4304430/ ] Marguerite Wildenhain was one of the founding members of Pond Farm\, an art school and community established in the woods above Guerneville in 1939. Many of its members were political refugees from Nazi Germany who had emerged from the great Bauhaus movement of the early 1900s. Wildenhain herself was a renowned potter of international reputation who remained at Pond Farm even after the other original members scattered. She died there in 1985. A unique collection of her work has come to the Sonoma County Museum through multiple gifts.

Golden's personal and professional relationship with the artists began when he met them during the 1974 public hearings for of their project Running Fence\, Sonoma and Marin counties\, 1972-1976. Golden went on to manage or assist with a number of the artists' large scale projects including 'The Umbrellas\, Joint Project for Japan and the USA\, 1984-1991 and\, more recently\, the as yet unrealized Over the River\, Project for the Arkansas River. Actively engaged with the art he so loved for nearly 30 years\, Golden passed away at his home in late 2002.

During the dark times of the Depression\, they traveled throughout the country as transient farm-workers\, all the while recording the daily struggles of itinerant laborers and their families. Hansel eventually worked for 'Life Magazine' while Otto freelanced for 'Life\,' 'Time' and others. In 1941\, the couple relocated to a farm in Santa Rosa where they continued their celebrated work depicting the harsh realities of unemployment\, migrant life and poverty.
