      Campaign year is upon us and we’ve drummed up an election year show that tackles all the issues. “Politix\, Showbiz on the Powerbiz\,” takes you through election year tackling what’s really happening in the world of politics – from image making to in-office issues – with some of the best songs musical theater has to offer. These items have been on the agenda since the first amendment gave us the freedom to sing!
       
      Amanda Goldrick\, Guillermo A. Gomez\, Rhoni Hirst and Nick Ortiz-Trammell take us through the political process and issues with medleys\, snippets and send-ups from “Chicago\,” “Evita\,” “Urinetown\,” “Will Rogers Follies” and “Miss Saigon\,” Sondheim\, Gershwin and Cole Porter tunes. These are just a few of the many shows and songs that cleverly make up “Politix\, Showbiz on the Powerbiz.”
       
      Janet DeRuvo has directed/choreographed/taught and performed in at least 7 states – (including the state of chaos).  With over 75 shows to tout\, most recent credits include work at the Denver Victorian\, Miners Alley and the Arvada Center. Her career includes acting\, commercial work\, motivational speaking\, event coordinator and acting\, dance and presentation coach. Currently\, she is adjunct faculty at a number of schools.
       
      A fun and swift moving spoof on the political arena – Campaign trail to Oval office. Politicians are easy targets and Politix sings about it! A tongue in cheek\, non-partisan show\, we tackle the political theater from the world of musical theatre. “ ..a swift moving spoof of what we are all about in the political arena” - Uptown Citizen.

      Russian-born singer Sophie Milman has toured the world\, won a Juno\, sold more than 100\,000 records - and she's only 25! Since her self-titled debut was released in 2004\, it has sold almost 100\,000 copies worldwide\, hit the Billboard Top 5 in Canada and the Top 15 in the United States\, and topped the iTunes jazz charts in five different territories.  Her most recent release\, Make Someone Happy\, won a 2008 JUNO Award for Best Vocal Jazz Album and since then she has maintained a rigorous touring schedule across the globe – headlining sold-out shows in Canada\, the U.S.\, Mexico\, Japan\, and throughout Europe – and continued to balance her burgeoning music career with her commerce studies at the University of Toronto.
       
      Sophie’s story continues to inspire. After emigrating from Russia to Israel with her family at the tender age of 7\, then moving again at 16 to seek a new life in Canada\, the transition from bookish teenager to glamorous jazz ingénue was perhaps unlikely. It was the offer of a recording contract after just three or four professional singing engagements that touched off a series of events that soon found this beautiful\, multilingual talent gracing the cover of Voir\, Klublife\, Wholenote\, and The Globe & Mail. She was featured in publications across the globe as well including Hello!\, Q\, Jazz Times\, Elle Magazine\, and the San Francisco Chronicle\, and appearing on Entertainment Tonight\, CBC\, CTV\, the BBC\, BET Jazz\, NPR\, and several NBC and Fox affiliates across the U.S.
       
      Touring the world has definitely deepened and strengthened the collaboration between Sophie and her band\, led by multi-instrumentalist\, composer and arranger Cameron Wallis\, and featuring Paul Shrofel on piano\, John Fraboni on drums\, and newest member Kieran Overs on bass\, earning her appearances on stage with international musical superstars like Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers\, Chick Corea\, and Jesse Cook.

      Modern Muse Theatre Company brings home their dear friend and colleague\, Jamie Horton\, for a very special fundraiser. Long-time\, beloved\, Denver Center Theatre Company actor and director returns for one night only to revisit favorite roles on Denver stages with special guests Kathy Brady\, John Hutton and Randy Moore.
       
      This special event will take place on Thursday\, July 31 at the Kenneth King Center Concert Hall on the Auraria Campus\, 855 Lawrence Way in Denver. The evening includes a Pre-show Wine/Cheese Party and silent auction beginning at 6:15 p.m. Back to the Muse: An Evening with Jamie Horton and Friends begins at 7:30 p.m. General Admission Tickets are $35 advance purchase and $40 at the door. Thirty-six (36) tickets only are offered at $100 that includes a private post show reception with Jamie Horton. “Close-Up with Jamie” will take place on the main stage of the Eugenia Rawls Courtyard Theatre after the show and features hors d’oeuvres and desert with special wine pairings.
       
      From 1983-2006\, Jamie Horton was a principal actor and director with the Tony Award-winning Denver Center Theatre Company. He played over eighty leading roles on the DCTC stages and was an active part of the company's new play development program. Directing and acting work have taken him to other theatres around the country\, including the Creede Repertory Theatre\, the Commonweal Theatre Company\, the Mark Taper Forum and the Cleveland Play House. He has worked extensively in film\, television and radio -- as actor\, screenwriter and producer. He was the recipient of a Fox Foundation Fellowship in 2003 and is currently a professor in the Theatre Department at Dartmouth College\, teaching acting and directing and directing mainstage productions.
      Proceeds from Back to the Muse: An Evening with Jamie Horton and Friends benefit Modern Muse Theatre Company\, a non-profit theatre company dedicated to providing affordable professional productions that explore relevant contemporary issues and that serve as a catalyst for dialogue and change in the community.
