 Jim Peron is President of Laissez Faire Books (http://lfb.org)\, and the author of a number of books and articles relating to individual rights\, classical liberal/libertarian issues and philosophy.
 He will also be joined by other L.F.B. staff members in which they will bring a number of books and videos for sale related to Objectivism and individualism too.
 His lecture will last about 45 minutes and we will discuss the issues Jim Peron brings up in his lecture afterward.

This years special guest and Master of Ceremonies will be renowned talk show host and author Larry King. Since 1981 when Erma Bombeck first invited fellow authors to join her for the countrys first Authors Luncheon as a fun way to raise funds for Arizona Kidney patients\, The Womens Board of the Arizona Kidney Foundation has been dedicated to continuing Bombecks tradition of bringing best-selling authors to the Valley to help fight Chronic Kidney Disease. To date\, the literary initiative has raised more than $7.5 million for programs that directly benefit Arizona kidney patients and their families. Each year\, the Arizona Kidney Foundation fills thousands of crisis intervention requests for aid\, including those for food\, nutritional supplements\, medication and emergency living expenses. We have an excellent\, diverse group of authors assembled for our 30th year celebration and I invite everyone to come out and support the Arizona Kidney Foundation at what is sure to be a spectacular event\, shares Leah Hoffman Langerman\, 2009 Luncheon Chairman. A lot more people are affected by kidney disease than we realize. The kidney is the most needed organ in the world and currently there some 85\,000 people waiting for a transplant. Last year alone\, 4\,500 people died while waiting for a kidney the Authors Luncheon is a powerful way to fight kidney disease and all the money we raise goes directly to AKF to support their outstanding work. The 30th Anniversary Authors Luncheon kicks-off with a private book signing in the morning (by invitation only) followed by book sales and signings\, a luncheon\, and then\, the Authors Program. In addition to Larry King\, special guests include authors Valerie Bertinelli\, Barbara Taylor Bradford\, A.J. Jacobs\, Ellie Krieger and John Standford. The Womens Board is a major source of fundraising for the Arizona Kidney Foundations many patient programs. In 1973\, Carol Bidstrup-Bombeck was installed as the new AKF Executive director. Bidstrup-Bombeck called upon her friends to rally support and raise money for the increasing number of dialysis patients and these influential and compassionate ladies formed the first Womens Board of the Arizona Kidney Foundation. Initial fundraising events included auctions\, a horse show and seminars. In 1980\, Erma Bombeck joined the group and the annual Authors Luncheon became its marquee event. This wonderful initiative began with the desire of 10 powerful women to help the Arizona Kidney Foundations patient services and it continues today due to the passionate support our members bring to fulfilling our mission\, said Jane Christensen\, Womens Board President.
