      Half Dome (8\,842 feet) is the signature landmark of Yosemite National Park. Few summits rival this giant granite peak when it comes to panoramic stargazing and sunrise views. A hike to Half Dome is a once in a lifetime adventure not to be missed\, and a personal challenging achievement with a round-trip hike time of 10 to 12 hours. 
      The strenuous hike to Half Dome is perfect for photography and nature lovers.
      This 14.2-mile hike to Half Dome gains more than 4\,800 feet of elevation. At the base of Half Dome\, grab giant cables to climb the last stretch up Half Dome's peak to a once-in-a-lifetime sunrise view. Marvel at the starry skies and the beauty of the sunrise.
      The first four miles the trail climbs out of Yosemite Valley and up to Vernal Falls\, then Nevada Falls offering stunning views of both waterfalls. The next four miles climbs through meadows\, then up granite rock stairs with views of the high Sierras\, then up the infamous cables of Half Dome. 
      Points of interests along the way: Illilouette Falls\, Vernal Falls\, Nevada Falls\, Mist Trail\, Merced River\, John Muir Trail\, Little Yosemite Valley\, Sunrise Creek\, views of Liberty Cap and Mount Broderick\, Merced River footbridge\, panoramic views of Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra\, Emerald Pool.
      Join us for this epic hike to the top of the world's most photographed rock face\, towering 5000 feet above the Yosemite Valley floor.
      This trip is for people with strong legs and knees\, and in good physical condition.
      According to Yosemite's Ranger: "For most hikers\, it is an exciting\, arduous hike\; for a few\, it becomes more of an adventure than they wanted. Indeed\, park rangers assist hundreds of people on the Half Dome trail every summer. Most of these emergencies/injuries or even death could have been prevented... " with proper physical fitness preparation and safety precautions\, a safe and enjoyable trip can be had. 
      Group size is limited to a maximum of 8 people. Past trips average 5 to 8 people.

      Seattle\, Washington - Reuniting on stage after 15 years are Kaweh and Seattle based singer-songwriter Holly Phillips. The two started their first group back in 1993 and after just a few short months were garnering rave reviews and opening up for such major acts as Robby Krieger of  “The Doors”.  Holly was recently featured on the “Barack Obama” documentary\, “The Man and his Journey”.  She has shared the stage and recorded with such artists as\,   Babatunde Olatunji\, Mickey Hart\, Matt Cameron\, Scott Mercado and Patrinell Wright.  Kaweh and his ensemble recently returned from Cabo San Lucas\, Mexico where they perfrmed at a Colin Cowie (Event Planer to the Stars) event with Julio Iglesias. The 18th century residents of Graeme Park—the Keiths\, Graemes\, and Fergussons—all called Scotland home\, and it is in their honor that we hold this annual fundraiser. 
      The entertainment includes the Hooligans performing rocking versions of Irish and Scottish music\; Carl Peterson performing traditional tunes from Scotland\, Ireland\, and England\; the Martin Family Band\, who combine Irish fiddle tunes with step dance routines\; Wireharp\, whose performance features harp music\, storytelling\, and other traditional instruments\; the Timoney Irish dancers performing step and clog dance routines\; Bucks Caledonia and MacGregor pipe and drum bands\; Now and Then\; and the Wild Irish Roses. Our children’s area features games and crafts\, a moon bounce\, pocket lady\, and The Kilted Juggler.       The Celtic Heritage Festival is being held on Saturday\, July 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults (18-64)\, $10 for seniors (65+)\, and $6 for youth (6-17)\, and $30 for families (two adults and accompanying children).
      The event is being put on by the Friends of Graeme Park\, in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. The Governor Keith Society sponsor is the Days Inn\, Horsham. Money raised by The Friends of Graeme Park at this and other events\, supports the operations\, educational programs\, and preservation of Graeme Park\, a National Historic Landmark.

      The concert features excerpts from Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience” and Chinese opera “Legend of the White Snake” (Sung in Chinese with English translations) by Taiwan composer Hsu Chang Wei.  “Patience” is a light hearted operetta\, a satire of the Aesthetic Movement in the late 19th Century Britain.  “Legend of the White Snake” is a musical adaptation of the well-known Chinese myth\, in which the white snake turned herself into a human for her love\, and eventually sacrifices herself for her family.  
      The concert will also feature other choral works including the seldom-performed suite of Serenades by Mozart\, “The Snow” of Elgar and “The Art of Ground Round” by P.D.Q. Bach.

      About Conductor and Music Director\, Stephanie Chan:
      Stephanie Chan earned her Bachelor of Music Degree summa cum laude from San Francisco State University in 1982.  During Stephanie’s tenure as Music Director (1983-1993)\, the choir of St. Paul's Co-educational College was chosen as the Best School Choir in Hong Kong for ten consecutive years. It also won the Gold Award in the Third International Music Festival held in Australia.  Prior to her return to the Bay Area in 1996\, Stephanie was a Lecturer in Voice at the Chinese University of Hong Kong\, and the Head of Musicianship Department of the Junior School at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts.  As a singer\, Stephanie has given solo recitals and has performed in opera productions both in California and in S.E. Asia.  She is particularly noted for her interpretation of Mozartian roles and German Lieder.  An experienced music teacher in voice and piano\, Stephanie is now teaching in Milpitas.
