1st Annual ABQ PEACE OUT!
Sunday September 17, 2006 at 7:00pm
Harlow's on the Hill
3523 Central Avenue NE
Albuquerque, New Mexico 87106 Get Directions
This event harkens back to the days of peaceful social activism of the late 60's, and we are billing it simply as an advertisement for PEACE, featuring live music and spoken word. All the performers are donating their time and effort for the sake of promoting peace and love in the world, which we all know is sorely lacking…and Albuquerque is a great place to start!

Please help me spread the word. There is already a lot of excitement and support for this concept, and I hope to start a national trend. I have not seen an event like this being staged anywhere else in the country yet, and it’s high time people started taking action to promote intelligent, compassionate debate on the purpose and the validity of the on-going “war on terror” and the recent developments in the middle east, even if it means just sitting down to have a beer and hang out with like-minded people.

Headlining the show will be local band, JASPER BROWN, who recently released their debut CD on local label LITTLE KISS RECORDS. Band info link here: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jasperbrown

Also on the bill is local recording artist and acoustic guitar legend, KIMO, who will open the show. GROUND ZERO (my band) will play a set of classic protest songs from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s (yes, there were protest songs in the 80’s!)

Bob Anderson from stopthewarmachine.org will give a short speech, and we have been coordinating this event through the wonderful folks from SWM as well. Their website is here: http://www.stopthewarmachine.org/

We have a few local poets from the Peace and Justice Center; Dale Harris, Bill Nevins and Priscilla Baca y Candelaria. Maybe more!

But I’m really, really thrilled to inform you that the duke city’s greatest slam poet, Kenn Rodriguez, has agreed to perform for the show! Personally, I am a big fan and I am really looking forward to seeing Kenn do his thing. He is an awesome performer. Kenn actually said he’d be “honored” to do the show!

As you can see, the bill is very full and we hope to put on a very entertaining and fast-paced variety show. The date is Sunday, September 17th at HARLOW’S ON THE HILL on the corner of Central and Carlisle. The fun starts at 7pm. Hopefully, this will lead to many more peace concerts in the near future.

I will be MC’ing the event along with Johnny Wilson from Planned Parenthood of ABQ.
Feel free to contact me with any further questions or concerns.

Thanks! We hope to see you there. FIGHT THE POWER!

Isn't Harlow's closed now and the owner off to jail somewhere back east?
