Film Screening: the Waiting Room
Wednesday November 7, 2012 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm
George Mason University - Johnson Center Cinema
400 University Dr.
Fairfax, Virginia 22030 Get Directions
The documentary 'The Waiting Room' is a character-driven documentary film that goes behind the doors of an American public hospital struggling to care for a community of largely uninsured patients. Using a blend of cinema verite and subjects' voiceovers, the film offers a raw, intimate, and often uplifting look at how patients, staff, and caregivers each cope with disease, bureaucracy and hard choices. A Q&A with filmmaker Peter Nicks and Washington Post film critic Ann Hornaday follows the screening. 'The Waiting Room' won the Special Jury Mention at 2012's AFI/Discovery Channel Silverdocs Documentary Festival. It opens at Washington DC's E Street Cinema on November 30, 2012.
