Pot + Pantry, the wee kitchen boutique in the Mission, is celebrating its second anniversary with a party—and the opening reception for ‘Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ’, a series of new works from Alyson Thomas of Drywell Art, on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
Like many awesome people, artist Alyson Thomas harbors a not-so-mild obsession with the “Three Bs” - beer, bourbon, and barbeque. She’s combined this obsession with her penchant for diagramming and humor, resulting in a slew of original diagrams, watercolors, drawings, and papercuts in her new show, “Beer, Bourbon, and BBQ.” Clearly, there will be complimentary food (think Sneaky’s BBQ) and drinks (think beer) at the reception. The show will run through Sunday, December 9th.
Alyson Thomas creates colorful food-related art, mostly, but not exclusively, of the meaty persuasion. She’s been creating art full-time since she left her job in 2009 as a government lawyer in a very un-well-thought-out plan to have a more creative life. Since then, she’s drawn upon her love of food and drink and has been busy creating hundreds of butchery-style diagrams and other food art. She’s created custom artwork for many restaurants and businesses, illustrated two cookbooks, and has been featured in The Bold Italic, The San Francisco Chronicle, and Beer West, among additional online publications. Her website is www.drywellart.com.
