The scientific, engineering and technical ramifications of preserving a modern metropolis rich with historic resources will be examined November 2–6, 2009 during the Association for Preservation Technology International’s Annual Conference in Los Angeles. Professionals from around the world will address what constitutes appropriate technology at a time when the pace of technology development is increasing and technological tools – which once took generations to change – now evolve daily.
This year’s Conference will feature a variety of workshops, symposiums and exhibits, as well as field sessions featuring Frank Lloyd Wright’s Textile Block Houses in Hollywood Hills, Pasadena’s Arroyo Seco Landmarks and Mid Century Houses by Rudolf Schindler and Richard Neutra. Attendees can also tour Fox Studios and the Vaudeville and Moving Picture Houses along Broadway, and have the opportunity to visit such well-known venues as Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and Union Station.
