This library, originally part of the second Francis W. Little House in Wayzata Minnesota, was designed in 1912 by America's greatest architect, Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959). The residence, called "Northome," is considered the last of Wright's famous houses in the Prairie style, suited to the land and the American way of living. The house was dismantled in 1972, when it was purchased by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The Allentown Art Museum has been fortunate in acquiring Northome's library. It was installed in 1973 by the Museum's architect, Edgar Tafel.
