Kandinsky in Paris 1934-1944
Saturday August 23, 2008 from 10:00am - 5:45pm
Solomon R Guggenheim Museum
1071 5th Ave
New York, New York 10128 Get Directions
Perhaps more than any other twentieth-century painter, Vasily Kandinsky has been closely linked to the history of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. The current selection of Kandinsky's work focuses on the last eleven years of his life, when he lived in Neuilly sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris. In France, the artist introduced "scientific" imagery -- a novel and significant vein of abstraction -- into his work before ultimately indulging in unbridled fantasy and a festival of color.
