The bulk of FORUM returns September 18-27, 2008. These weekends of staged readings will delight audiences with 13 original plays hot from the pens of the country’s best playwrights. Patrons can attend one reading for $10 or purchase a FORUM PASS to the entire event for $25. Playwrights Theatre’s full-season subscribers receive a FORUM PASS as a free added bonus. During this celebration of new plays, patrons are invited to be a part of the process as some of the best actors and directors in the New Jersey and New York present rehearsed readings of these new works and then participate in post-show discussions with the authors and the Artistic Director. As part of its examination of Katrina and its aftermath, Playwrights Theatre will offer part of its Forum Series during the run of Rising Water, with readings of other plays that have tackled the subject, including the second play of Biguenet’s Katrina trilogy, Shotgun; the documentary drama Katrina: The K Word by Drew University Professor Lisa Brenner and Montclair University Professor Suzanne Trauth; The Breach by Catherine Filloux, Tarell McCraney and Joe Sutton; Trash Bag Tourist by Samuel Brett Williams and Paradise by Yasmine Beverly Rana
