From Asheville, North Carolina, Steep Canyon Rangers are the International Bluegrass Music Association's 2006 Emerging Artists of the Year. Their recent recordings have risen to the top of industry charts and can been heard on bluegrass & satellite radio. They have appeared several times on the Grand Ole Opry and often share stages with Doc Watson, Del McCoury and Tim O'Brien.

Most recently, Steep Canyon Rangers received 2 IBMA nominations in 2008: Album of the Year (Lovin' Pretty Women) and Gospel Performance of the Year ("Be Still Moses").
