Eccentric Oxford walk
Sunday September 28, 2008 at 2:00pm
Martyrs’ Memorial
St Giles
Oxford, England OX1 Get Directions
A guided walk around the city revealing the eccentric characters associated with Oxford throughout the centuries.

Tours meet at: Martyrs’ Memorial (opposite Randolph Hotel)

Acquaint yourself with the city’s history, from Danish raiding parties (1007) to exams-are-over parties (2007). Learn about Oxford’s plagues, riots and eccentricities, and how all of Britain’s great universities (plus Cambridge) originated from Oxford’s pioneering model. Hear about Oxford’s eccentrics, scientists, novelists, Prime Ministers, pioneers, actors, inventors, poets, TV stars, criminals and politicians (there is some inevitable cross-over within the last two categories). Enjoy some fascinating facts that we’ve mined about Oxford.
