Lecture with Gary Taubes
Thursday February 7, 2013 from 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Jewish Community Center of the East Bay
1414 Walnut Street
Berkeley, California Get Directions
Leading science writer, NY Times contributor and co-founder of Nutrition Science Initiative, Gary Taubes will challenge us to consider: What constitutes a healthy diet? What are the politics behind nutritional guidelines? How do we make sense of conflicting recommendations? What should we eat if we want to remain lean and healthy or become leaner and healthier if we are not? Is sugar in moderation okay? What can parents do to foster healthy eating habits in their children? Through extensive research, Taubes challenges what he deems the bad nutritional science of the last century-none more damaging than the "calories-in, calories-out" model of why we get fat-and the good science that has been ignored. Followed by a wine and cheese reception and book signing.
