Emmanuel Jal, Sudanese child soldier and world renowned hip hop artist, will lecture at University of Rochester on Thursday, Oct. 2, 7:30pm in Strong Auditorium. Tickets $10 general public on sale at the Common Market in Wilson Commons and online at www.choiceticketing.com/rochester. His lecture focuses on his experiences of survival as a child soldier and on the power of human generosity, the need for political support in Darfur and what each of us can do to make a difference. Now a hip hop artist, Jal uses music and lyrics to promote peace, literacy, social justice, and human rights. Music is central to his message and at each appearance, Jal raps for freedom and sings for absolution.
