X Avant new music festival
Night #2 featuring:
OM, Toca Loca, Gordon Beeferman/Jeff Arnal Duo, Istvan Kantor

Location: The Music Gallery, 197 John St.

Time: 7pm door, 8pm show

Tickets: $15 advance, on sale at Penguin Music, Rotate This, Soundscapes + www.artsboxoffice.ca

Night #2 of X Avant offers a diverse program. Headliners OM (10pm) fly in from San Francisco, on their way to perform at The Wire magazine's Adventures in Modern Music festival in Chicago. OM consists of Al Cisneros (bass/vocals) and Chris Hakius (drums), both founding members of legendary doom pioneers Sleep. Their current project combines doom metal with dub, chant and psychedelic elements. Also this evening, Gregory Oh, artistic director of uncompromising and mischievous Toronto new music collective Toca Loca, will curate a set of music specifically for X Avant (9pm). The 8pm set will feature guests from Brooklyn, NY: Gordon Beeferman/Jeff Arnal Duo, a jazz/new music duo featuring Gordon Beeferman, piano, and Jeff Arnal, percussion.

Just added! Neoist noise terrorist Istvan Kantor will conduct an indubitably strange performance in the courtyard prior to the first set.
