Lakewood Cultural Center presents

“The Shuffle Effect”

SYBARITE5

7:30 p.m., Saturday, March 2

Tickets on sale now: $22 adult, www.Lakewood.org/Tickets, 303-987-7845 or at the Box Office

This is no ordinary chamber music! From the moment the group’s bows attack the strings, SYBARITE5 engages the senses and redefines the rules. The traditional set program list is replaced with an iPod – yes, an iPod – containing the group’s repertoire. The players press shuffle and play whatever piece shows up on the screen, making each performance a unique event. It could be Mozart and Radiohead followed by Brahms and Brubeck or Piazzolla and Led Zeppelin. Audiences should be prepared to hear anything.

SYBARITE5 is the first string quintet ever to win the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in its 60 year history. The ensemble won the 2011 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition and the Sylvia Ann Hewlett Adventurous Artist Prize. Adventurous indeed, the group is known for its “classically honed technique mixed with grit and all out passionate attack [that] transfixes the audience. Their rock star status in the classical crossover world is well deserved,” said the Sarasota Herald Tribune.

Composed of Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violins; Angela Pickett, viola; Laura Metcalf, cello; and Louis Levitt, bass, SYBARITE5 has taken audiences by storm all across the United States, forever changing the perception of chamber music performance.

Tickets are $22 and are available at 303-987-7845, www.Lakewood.org/Tickets or the Lakewood Cultural Center Box Office, 470 S. Allison Parkway (Wadsworth and Alameda). Ample, free parking.

The 2012-2013 Lakewood Cultural Center Presents season is generously supported by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD), with appreciation to the citizens of the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Sheraton Denver West and the Denver Post Community, improving and enriching the lives of those in our community.
