Managing Water
Thursday January 31, 2013 from 4:00pm - 6:00pm
University of Salford
University of Salford
Salford, England M5 4WT Get Directions
Venue/Location: Allerton Building, Room 218, University of Salford, Salford M6 5ST
Event type: Science
Description:

IEMA in collaboration with The University of Salford are pleased to be able to provide you with the opportunity to discuss recent innovations in flood management. This has become particularly pertinent, given some of the recent ‘near misses’, which some stakeholders have had following the wettest year on record for England.

· What is the current strategic advice from the Environment Agency?

· How has legislation changed, and what are you doing to meet your obligations?

· How has the water industry engineering research moved forward to help you manage the risks you face?

· What is the role of sustainable flood retention basins and sustainable drainage systems in controlling flooding and diffuse pollution?

All of these questions and more can be explored at this regional Knowledge Exchange event. Presentations will be given by

Mr. Pete Fox from the Environment Agency on the Flood and Water Act: Implications, Implementation and Responsibilities

and Prof Miklas Scholz from The University of Salford on Sustainable Drainage Systems and Sustainable Flood Retention Basin Case Studies in the Wider Greater Manchester Area

Note that this is a free event. Everybody is welcome to attend. To receive further information, please contact Miklas via m.scholz@salford.ac.uk or call 0161 2955921.
