Cloud Computing - Is it ready for the Enterprise?
Monday October 13, 2008 from 6:00pm - 9:00pm
SAP Labs
Building D, 3410 Hillview Avenue
Palo Alto, California 94304 Get Directions
Cloud computing is all the rage. Companies like Salesforce.com and Amazon Web Services are attracting thousands of customers, not to mention scores of headlines, with their online services. But business executives remain wary of this new trend. They worry whether cloud providers will be able to offer the security, reliability, and customizability they require to successfully run their companies. Will cloud computing move into the business mainstream, or will it remain on the periphery of the enterprise? That's the question we'll examine in this exciting and timely discussion.

Kicking off with a brief presentation by Nicholas Carr, author of "The Big Switch: Rewiring the World, from Edison to Google", a panel of IT providers and users will debate the future of the cloud in the enterprise.

Moderator:
Manoj Parameswaran, Professor, Santa Clara University

Keynote:
Nick Carr, former executive editor of the Harvard Business Review

Panel:
Dr. Stephen Herrod, Chief Technology Officer, VMWare
Dr. Gregory O. Smith, VP Technical Deal Solution Design, T-Systems
Sanjog Gad, SVP Advanced Technology, SAP Labs
Kendall Collins, SVP of Force.com marketing at salesforce.com

Complimentary appetizers, beer, wine and soft drinks will be served.

$20 Members, $35 Non-Members, $50 at the door.
