The International Youth Friendship Festival “St.Petersburg Brings Friends Together”

The International Youth Friendship Festival “St.Petersburg Brings Friends Together” will be held on December 3 until December 7, 2008 spearheaded by the Regional Union “St.Petersburg Roundtable of Youth and Children’s Associations” under the aegis of the Committee on Youth Policy and Interaction with NGOs of St.Petersburg Government. The Russian National Committee of the All Different – All Equal campaign granted the Festival its campaign event status.
The Festival’s purpose:
• to promote socially important values in youth such as friendship, respect for different cultures, health, family, homeland, hard work, knowledge and peace.
• to bring interests, opportunities and the participants’ activity together while in the process of grasping the essence of cultural identity and understanding the importance of other cultures.
• to come into and maintain friendly and creative contacts.
• to share information, ideas and the international dialogue experience in the cause of the All Different – All Equal idea.
• to create conditions enabling youngsters from different countries to fulfill their creative potential by means of intercultural communication.
• to make arrangements in order to get the participants engaged in constructive discussions regarding problems and advances in intercultural cooperation existing in the countries of their origin.
• to generalize the experience of youngsters, experts, and governmental institutions as regards mobility and Human Rights education, the promotion of social diversity and integration in Europe, youth participation and proactive citizenship, innovative society and the recognition of non-formal education.
The Festival Program includes youth events, thematic round tables, creative meetings, seminars, an exhibition and presentation as well as a partnership forum to build new contacts, performances prepared by children’s and youth creative groups as well as sports teams, an unofficial discussion-based club and press-conference for journalists, seeing St.Petersburg’s historical heritage.

Conditions of participation:
Members of Youth and Children’s Associations and governmental institutions working in the youth policy sphere are welcome to apply. It is desirable that participants should be 20 years of age and over.
All local costs related to accommodation, meals, the entertainment program, local transport are paid by the Festival’s organizing committee. Participants only have to cover their visa-related expenses and travel costs to allow them to come to St.Petersburg and return to their home country. Visa support will be provided by the organizers. Please, attach your passport information.

Accomodation and meals:
Participants will be accommodated in 3-shared rooms at Azimut hotel, located at the heart of St.Petersburg. Meals will be provided at the hotel and across the city depending on the programme. For more information visit the hotel's website: http://www.azimut-hotel.ru
