The Raconteur Presents
A Special Screening of the Award-winning Documentary

ANYTOWN, USA

Introduced by director Kristian Fraga and followed by a Q&A with Fraga, the producers, and the winning candidate!

8 PM, Fri. Oct 20

"A campaign for mayor that takes many unexpected and heartbreaking twists and turns." The New York Times

"Three and a half stars...more twists than an episode of Lost...a nail biting drama." The Star-Ledger
"Three and a half stars...all the impact of a blockbuster...keeps you guessing until the very end!" The Times

This hilarious and riveting, award-winning documentary follows a tightly run mayoral race in the small town of Bogota, New Jersey. When the much-reviled (and legally blind) Republican incumbent Steven Lonegan (whose sins include slashing the local high-school football team’s budget) boldly announces he will run for re-election, the citizens of Bogota go on the offensive to unseat him.

Enter Democrat Fred Pesce, coaxed from retirement to share the ticket. With Pesce's health in question, and his politics compared to those of Tony Soprano, the field is wide open for a sight-challenged, former local football hero named Dave Musikant to step in as a write-in independent (officially making it the only mayoral race in the nation where two of the three candidates are legally blind!).

Add to the mix the machinations of Jesse “The Body” Ventura’s campaign manager and you have political burlesque as its finest and funniest. Anytown, USA resonates as an all-too-familiar look at the charade of partisan politics in our increasingly polarized nation.

*Seats fill quickly! Please reply if you plan to attend. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the above event please forward this notice.
As always, all Raconteur in-store events are FREE! and include complimentary wine/amuse bouche. Thirty folding chairs are set up in the rear of the store (feel free to bring pillows). Films are projected onto a 6' X 6' screen with a high end digital projector (courtesy of Leah Kane) and piped through the shop's eight built-in, surround-sound speakers. Films invariably look and sound great.
