Bhangra in the Burgh is a South Asian dance competition held at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Pittsburgh, PA and will be held this year on Saturday, November 8, 2008. It is the largest student-run event at Carnegie Mellon University.

Bhangra is an exciting and energetic dance form that fuses traditional South Asian dance with Western Hip-Hop. There will be 8 collegiate Bhangra teams coming from schools like New York University, Cornell University, Rutgers University, Drexel University, Columbia University, Northwestern University, the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonweatlh University, competing for over $5,000 in prizes. For more information, please visit the event website (www.bhanrgaintheburgh.com)

Last year was the event's first year and it experienced incredible success, selling out an auditorium of nearly 2,300 people and giving over $6,000 back to the Homeless Children's Education Fund of Allegheny County, the event's charity. This year, the event hopes to give even more back to this charity.

Tickets are available through our website (www.bhangraintheburgh.com), at CMU's University Center Information Desk, the William Pitt Union Box Office and at the door. Tickets are just $10 for Students, $20 General Admission and $50 for VIP seating. All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Homeless Children's Education Fund. The event is open to people of all ages.

Please e-mail info@bhangraintheburgh.com with any questions or comments.
