The Southern Arizona Women’s Chorus, under the direction of Terrie Ashbaugh, MM, has an exciting calendar for the fall of 2008. We will be presenting “A Jazz Noel” with Dr. Kirby Shaw. These concerts will feature a guest appearance by this renowned conductor, composer, arranger and choral music educator. Many who have sung in men’s, women’s, or mixed choruses have heard of Dr. Shaw, and may have performed his original arrangements. During our two holiday concerts, Dr. Shaw will not only conduct the chorus in music he has composed and arranged for the season, he will also perform some of the songs himself.

Hosted by the Southern Arizona Women’s Chorus, prior to our Saturday evening concert, December 13, 2008, Dr. Shaw will be teaching a jazz workshop for selected high school choirs including Ironwood Ridge, Canyon Del Oro, and Flowing Wells at Ironwood Ridge High School, 2475 W. Naranja Dr, Oro Valley, 85742 from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Some of the students will join the Southern Arizona Women’s Chorus and Dr. Shaw for the performance which follows at 7:00 pm.
