At the Cultural Survival Bazaar Every Gift Has a Story to Tell.

Our fine art, jewelry, native crafts, hand-knotted rugs, decorative pieces, and clothing are crafted by indigenous artisans in Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

This December, Cultural Survival, an international non-profit organization, will celebrate its 28th year of bringing indigenous arts and crafts to Metropolitan Boston in NEW locations:

At the Cultural Survival Bazaars you can shop for unique, hand-crafted, fairly traded gifts, enjoy exotic cuisine, dance to the rhythms of “world music”, listen to a variety of cultural presentations, or participate in our many interactive workshops.

Cultural Survival will host 50 vendors selling items such as Afghan & Tibetan hand-knotted rugs, Zapotec pottery, San jewelry, African batik, Apache silver, Thai silk, reed baskets from Ghana, Nipmuc flutes, Maasai beadwork, silk weavings from Madagascar, lace from Brazil, rare “aguayos" (traditional Andean tribal weavings which was used by many indigenous communities to carry small children as well as wood on the back but nowadays is used as a decorative item), and many more items from around the world.

The entertainment includes traditional Lakota drumming, Native American Storytelling, Native American Flute music by Hawk Henries, African drumming, music by a Guatemalan Marimba Band with dancers, presentations on Cultural Survival’s Guatemala Radio Project (which supports Maya Community Radio), a documentary film on Community Radio in Todos Santos, Guatemala, coffee demonstrations by Equal Exchange, Abenaki Basket Making, and much more. Interactive workshops include clay building, Native flute playing, Traditional Medicine Pouch making, ethnic dance workshops, back-strap weaving, yarn painting, Henna Tattoo, and more. The proceeds support Cultural Survival’s work with indigenous peoples worldwide.
Cultural Survival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded in 1972 to promote the rights, voices, and visions of indigenous peoples. Cultural Survival is a non-profit organization that partners with indigenous peoples in Asia, Africa and the Americas to preserve their ways of life. Income from our bazaars supports education and economic development in some of the poorest communities in the world. The Bazaars enable the organization to educate the public about indigenous cultures, while supporting indigenous artisans, vendors, and organizations from around the world.
