"How Can Texas Win in the New Energy Economy?

Austin Energy and the Clean Energy Incubator are proud to announce the second annual Clean Energy Venture Summit, “How Can Texas Win in the New Energy Economy?” scheduled December 2-4th, 2008 in Austin, Texas. The Summit will bring together leading voices from the energy, business and policy worlds to address the low-carbon world’s economic impact on Texas.

A carbon cap is coming, and as America’s energy capital and leading emitter of CO2, Texas will be greatly impacted by whatever carbon system is enacted. But there is also a significant economic opportunity in addressing this inevitable challenge head-on. Who will own the technology that powers a low-carbon economy? How will our oil and gas companies respond?

What carbon-linked start-ups will emerge from the new legislation? Where will America’s new energy job centers be located? How will this impact our agricultural industry and our transportation? What will it take for Texas to lead? What will it cost – in money and jobs – if we don’t? What are the investment opportunities here, and what can our policymakers do to spur investment in the Lone Star State?

Leaders from national investment firms, utilities, universities, local and municipal governments and traditional and new energy companies will lead panels and keynote speeches addressing the impacts on specific industries, such as the utility, petrochemical, transportation and agriculture industries, state and local government responses, and the investment opportunities in Texas.

Plan now to join Austin Energy and CEI at the new AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at the University of Texas in Austin, Texas for this blockbuster three-day event."
