An inaugural meeting to set up a group of people who are interested in next generation distributed systems. Trying to look beyond the buzzwords (Web Services, SOA, ...) and focus on new approaches for building large scale, resilient systems.
Dan Creswell has agreed to give a short presentation on some of the work he has been doing on Amazons EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud). Dan is a well respected software technolgist who is responsible for Blitz, the leading open source JavaSpace.
The meeting will be held at the Betfair.com offices in Hammersmith and we are aiming for a 6 to 6.30 start on December 4th.
Pizza and Beer included :)

The Google map printout for Betfair took me to King St, and I spent about a 1/2 hour trying to find it - only when I re-looked at the map back at home was it clear that Google was wrong and teh venue was elsewhere :(
I had the exact same problem. The cab dropped me off at King Street and I spent most of the evening working my way back to the river till I found the place. I walked in about 30 seconds from the end of Dan's talk. Thankfully Dan was kind enough to reprise it for a couple of us.
I think NextNet is a great idea but I'd prefer a more central location for next time. I can probably arrange for us to use the Thoughtworks office in Holborn for the session after next. Would that be useful?
