Cerulean Arts is pleased to present Territorial: New Works on Paper by Anne Canfield. Through the use of representation and symbolism within her work, Canfield voices a story while also exploring a sense of being, time and of place.
Anne Canfield's imagery is founded out of two worlds; one real and one imagined, meeting somewhere in between. Her current series, Territorial, explores a sense of vulnerability in areas of life otherwise taken for granted (comforts of home and pets) as they shift from safe space to uncertain space with the imposing tensions of an insecure global world.
Canfield currently lives and works in Philadelphia. She graduated from Moore College of Art and also attended the Yale Summer School of Painting at Norfolk. Canfield’s works have been exhibited locally and nationally at venues such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Galleries at Moore, Maryland Art Place, Pittsburg Center for the Arts, the Ice Box Project Space and the Woodmere Art Museum. Currently Canfield is a fellow at the Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia.
Territorial: New Works on Paper by Anne Canfield is on view from December 5, 2008 through January 9, 2009 and is free and open to the public. The opening reception is Friday, December 5 from 5-9pm. Anne Canfield will be available to discuss and answer questions about her work Saturday, December 13 from 1-4pm with a gallery presentation at 2pm.
