Arlington, VA -- Fashion icon Michael Kors will receive Marymount University's Designer of the Year Award at Portfolio in Motion, the annual student fashion show. The show, luncheon, and award presentation will be held on Friday, April 27, at noon in the Rose Benté Lee Center on the University's Main Campus, 2807 North Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia. Following the Portfolio in Motion student fashion show, Mr. Kors will review and critique the portfolios of Marymount's senior design students.

Every aspect of Portfolio in Motion -- from the jury-selected student designs and model try-outs to garment reviews and show production -- reflects the academic and creative efforts of students in Marymount's Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandising programs. The Designer of the Year Award is presented annually to a designer who has achieved excellence in the field and has captured the imagination of both the fashion industry and the public. Mr. Kors joins a distinguished group of past recipients, including Mark Badgley and James Mischka, Geoffrey Beene, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Kay Unger, and Carmen Marc Valvo.
