Sounds of the Season: Ars Lyrica and Moores School of Music Present Handel’s Messiah
Sunday December 7, 2008 at 3:00pm
Moores School of Music @ University of Houston
120 School of Music Bldg
Houston, Texas 77204 Get Directions
With its powerful music, uplifting refrains and timeless majesty, it’s no wonder George Frideric Handel’s The Messiah is an enduring classic. To celebrate the season, Ars Lyrica, Houston’s premiere early music ensemble, in collaboration with the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music Concert Chorale, bring this enduring masterpiece to life.

Premiered in 1742, with a libretto by Charles Jennens, the oratorio borrows from Biblical verse to tell the story of Jesus Christ’s life and works. With its instantly recognizable Hallelujah Chorus, The Messiah is one of the most familiar works in the classical music canon.

Usher in the holiday season than with this most memorable work.
