Shel Israel will discuss his new book, Twitterville--Using Global Neighborhoods to thrive in tough times.

He will be discussing his new book Twitterville, which contains interviews and case studies from more than 50 businesses and organizations who are using Twitter to get closer with customers during the challenging economic times we all face. These include Dell Computer, Comcast, The Home Depot, The American Red Cross, NPR, the Barack Obama campaign, Jim Long, NBC cameraman at the White House people in home offices and nonprofits. He will discuss why Twitter serves a growing number of companies to improve support, sales, news coverage, disaster recovery information and conversations with customers.

Shel Israel writes and speaks on social media. He is the co-author, with Robert Scoble, of Naked Conversations--how blogs are changing the way businesses talk with customers and is currently working on his second book, Twitterville, how business can thrive during tough times.
Israel contributed to on social media topics to BusinessWeek, Dow Jones and FastCompany. His GlobalNeighbourhoods.net, blog is among the world's 50 most popular business blogs, according to AdAge.
Since July 2007, Israel has interviewed more than 115 people in 35 countries on the impact of social media in their cultures and businesses for his Social Media Global Report. He has selected a diverse group of subjects ranging from Michael Dell, founder of Dell Computers to Wael Abbas, who posts hidden-camera videos n YouTube of Egyptian police brutality.
He has spoken on social media related issues more than 50 times. Most recently, he became the first American to keynote at CNBloggercon, the largest blogging conference in China.
Israel is a senior fellow to the Society for New Media Research (SNCR) an organization the researches all aspects of social media for business, academia and government.
