The Art of Origami
Sat., May 5, 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The art of paper folding has been a tradition in Japan for hundreds of years. Rich in symbolism, origami today makes lovely place settings, package decorations, and toys for children. Beginning with simple folds like the swan and the traditional stylized tato, participants progress to the more difficult crane and iris. The latter, with its sword like a leaf, is a symbol of a strong warrior spirit. Other forms include morning glory, tulip, and signet. Supplies are provided.

Location: S.D. Ripley Center, 1100 Jefferson Drive, SW
Tickets: Resident Members $65; Gen. Admission $85
