Hey, are you one of those who turns up their nose at the concept of buying something used? You just couldn't think of wearing anything someone else had worn? Can't read a book that someone else has read? Well, it would be hoped you have donned the door of a library and let me guess, you don't have any problem going to a spa and using towels that have been used many times before. And you likely stay in hotels, don't you? If you think that hotels buy NEW sheets, pillows, blankets, bed spreads and bath towels just for your stay, think again and GET OVER IT!
January 22nd, 2009 is the day you put all that behind you and get real. It's your license to say "it's not only OK for me to buy something used, but if I am going to be in anyway environmentally responsible, I MUST buy something used". Visit a resellers boutique near you and learn that you not only help save our environment from tonnes of GHG's (green house gases emitted by each of the processes required by new product manufacturing and distribution), but you can do it AND save money. Given all the grim news over the holidays, isn't that actually a bit of really great news? Just about everything that is sold new is resold somewhere-and sometimes in still new condition.
So what are you waiting for? If you feel the need to warm up for the big event, try it out ahead of time. And when you have done your very best on January 22, share your experiences by writing us at makingadifference(at)reyouzd.com (you will have to copy and paste and replace the (at) with @.)
Have a great January 22 wherever you are in the world!
From all of us at www.reyouzd.com, Happy Sustainable New Year! Visit us on Facebook as well!
