Explore the duality of man – Sacred & Profane – at the Basso Moderno Duo recital. The Basso Moderno Duo, Allan Von Schenkel and Kristen Williams, will give a FREE recital at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church located at 10th and G NW, on March 3rd at 3:00, with guest pianist Jonathan Fisher .
The Basso Moderno Duo will premiere new works from Colin Mawby (UK), Juan Jose Iturriberry (Uruguay), Roman Ledeniov (Russia), and William Ortiz (Puerto Rico). The first half of the recital focuses on spirituality and the Catholic faith. In contrast, the later program addresses the secular with works like Tango and Soiree at La Playa Hotel .

Jonathan Fisher will perform a short preview of his Carnegie Hall Debut program that he will give the following week. Mr. Fisher is a Philadelphia based concert pianist and will give the Washington DC premiere of Tony said he saw birds flying by Aaron Berkowitz.

St. Patrick's Church is the oldest parish in the Federal City of Washington, D.C. Founded in 1794 to minister to the needs of the stonemasons building the White House and the U.S. Capitol, the parish continues to serve the needs of downtown Washington through daily Mass & confession, adult education, and cultural activities.

The Basso Moderno Duo has commissioned over 100 lyrical works for solo bass and piano by some of the world's most prominent and exciting living composers. Composers from over 30 countries have written specifically for Allan Von Schenkel's virtuosic and highly individualized manner of playing. Kristen Williams piano playing is a perfect complement to the intense voice of the solo bass. Williams is a focused musician who is able to share, with the listener, her devotion to the piano. Our program is designed to delight and surprise audiences with a combination of lush sounds, tasteful writing and lyricism. Basso Moderno Duo future bookings will include the Kennedy Center and Capital Fringe Festival in Washington DC.
