The climax of the Elgin Choral Union's stellar 60th Anniversary Season will culminate with the world Premiere of the completed Hiawatha by Maestro Robert Hanson, music director for the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. Newly commissioned by the Choral Union, this work represents the finale of the original commission done in 1989, which was performed to a sold out house at Hemmens Auditorium. Hanson's haunting harmonies create the feeling that you get looking out over Lake Michigan or hiking through the national forests in Michigan, and are very consistent with Longfellow's imagery in his famous poem, the Song of Hiawatha. This must-see concert will include the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, the award-winning Glen Ellyn Children's Chorus and Native American dancers.
