I've long complained that there isn't more early stage entreprenuer and investor networking in Seattle....so I decided to try and do something about it.
I'm going to try this format and see how it goes. A weekly meeting at Louisa's on Eastlake, Tuesdays at 8:30 AM starting on April 17 2007.
This is a great idea...I'm looking to network with other developers/designers however. Is this mostly investors and entrepreneurs as the description states? It looked like OpenCoffee emphasized developers as well.
We had 16-18 folks show up this morning (6/12/07) at Louisa's at 2349 Eastlake. Most everyone who was present was in the early start up stages of their company or could provide needed support. I even observed one person recruiting a programmer to come work for him.
For those of you who are planning to come next week, you can usually find parking on the East side of Eastlake Ave E or on the West side if you come after 9 AM (there is no parking from 7-9 AM.)

The leadership for a start-up is very unique, risk oriented and understands that at times, thru failure we learn so much and maximize our chances for success the next round. I've done two start-ups, helped with IPO's and turn-a-round in my experience.
Abe Lincoln is my hero, yes as the 16th President, but even more for his perseverance. He failed at business, had great personal tragedy, and politiical defeat before he became the best President we ever had in the US.
With that said, start-up is never easy..lot's of vision needing the support and backing of family and friends, the local banking community, the VAR, the social networking, seeking advise and help from resources that maximize your chances for success...advice from those who have been there and done that . ...look around the room...only one of 10 of your will remain standing 2 years from now but is better to have tried than never to have tried at all.
