Thank you for using Upcoming! To help focus our efforts on core Yahoo! product experiences, we will discontinue Upcoming by 30th April 2013. You can find more details here
A meet-up for programmers, web developers and designers to discuss and showcase their "£5 apps" - lightweight software created by one or two people who take a simple idea and run with it.
The discussion will range from technical (what tools/languages were used during development) to business (building communities, spreading the word, costs and rewards).
"The evolutionary tale of Sensible Development: From the spare room to the enterprise - 7 years of growth from learning Java in spare time, consulting, running off with The Guardian's fanbase, developing an online product, selling it, licensing it back, watching it
fly (and then crash), then the re-birth, whilst bringing up a family"
"Story of Brighton based kwiqq.com How an inexperienced university graduate went from an idea to investment and clients in a few months. Raj explains what it took him to setup the business,
how he raised investment and marketed his product."
Both of these talks will have a slightly more business/community growing side - though that doesn't rule out technical questions.
Ian and John will be providing some beer and soft drinks. We might also stretch to a bit of cake if John has some free time for baking.
