PROGRAM
Kirke Mechem Winging Wildly
Robert Convery Israfel
Aaron Copland In The Beginning

The Music Group of Philadelphia celebrates creation and the exuberance of Spring with three 20th century masterworks.

Winging Wildly, a Music Group-commissioned piece by Kirke Mechem is an a cappella setting of three poems on the theme of birds and flight.

Israfel by Robert Convery — also a Music Group commission — is a setting of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem about the sweetest singing angel in heaven, with soprano and oboe accompaniment.

In the Beginning by Aaron Copland sets the famous King James version of the Genesis story to sublime music for soprano and a cappella chorus.

Tickets available in advance from members of The Music Group ($15) or at the door ($20); $15 for seniors; Free admission for students with valid ID.
