Local residents invited to make submissions to Royalty Review Panel

Edmonton... Albertans living near Calgary will have the opportunity to provide their views and input on Alberta's royalty and tax regime at a public meeting, beginning May 22 & 23. Anyone interested in making a presentation is encouraged to register in advance to guarantee an opportunity to address the panel.

To register, visit www.albertaroyaltyreview.ca or call (403) 297-8173. You can be connected toll-free by calling 310-0000 first.

The panel will consider future dates if interest warrants. Members of the public and media who wish to observe the proceedings are welcome to attend without registering, but space may be limited.

The meetings will be held, May 22 to May 24, beginning at 9 a.m., at the Raddison Hotel Calgary Airport, 2120 16th Avenue in Calgary.

The Royalty Review Panel is hosting public meetings to gather input from interested Albertans and stakeholders as the panel examines the province's royalty and tax regime to ensure Albertans are receiving a fair share from energy development through royalties, taxes and fees. Information about Alberta's royalty structure, additional dates and locations of public meetings, and how to make submissions online, by fax or by mail is also available by visiting www.albertaroyaltyreview.ca. The final deadline for submissions is
June 22.

The royalty review is part of Premier Ed Stelmach's plan to build a stronger Alberta. Other priorities for the government are to govern with integrity and transparency, manage growth pressures, improve Albertans' quality of life, and provide safe and secure communities.
