Wiki Wednesday
Wednesday June 6, 2007 from 6:00pm - 8:30pm
Citizen Space
425 Second St., #300
San Francisco, California 94107 Get Directions
Wiki Wednesday is a party with a featured speaker or discussion topic, related to wikis. We get together to chat, learn about wikis, find jobs, talk deals, and hang out. People who participated in the all-day Wikithon (a wiki hackathon) can show off their cool hacks. Anyone else is welcome to give a brief demo or lightning talk. Socialtext and co-hosts will provide the space and food for the party.

Our featured speaker for June is Eugene Eric Kim, giving a talk about wiki interoperability.

Abstract:

Market growth is healthy for everyone in the Wiki world. More Wiki companies and technology means greater market awareness and innovation. But Wikis are also about community and collaboration. Are we as a community collaborating as much as we could? Are there opportunities we're missing by not collaborating more? Eugene Eric Kim will preview his upcoming paper on Wiki interoperability, where he describes real-world end-user pain, concrete opportunities (especially ways Wiki developers can help the entire space by improving their own tools), and a practical strategy (WikiOhana) for achieving interoperability.

We may also hear from Philip Neustrom on Wikispot and Daviswiki.
