Hack it! Mash it up! Mix your SWX with your JSON with your XML with your Flash Remoting. Suck up that API. Put it on your phone, slap it on your Wii, throw it on your PS3. Break it. Fix it. Play! Have fun!
Aral Balkan loosens his collar and goes barefoot to share his recent experiences in rediscovering the fun side of Flash.
Expect a first hand introduction to SWX, Aral's new data exchange format for Flash that works with SWF files and lets you loadMovie() your data, APIs, mashups, some spaghetti code, and Flash Lite.
As we have more time during this special Flash Brighton session, bring along your notebook computers and follow along. If you're on a Mac, you don't need anything else. Those of you on Windows machines should install WAMP or XAMPP on your computers (or have a web server with PHP 4 or 5 installed) in order to take part. (You don't need to bring your laptop to take part in the session but it will be more fun that way!)
Join Aral for an honest, relaxed, and inspirational session where you can let go and having fun with geekery.
Note: You do not have to be a super code guru to understand and take part in this session. In fact, the whole idea is that SWX is supposed to make building data-driven Flash apps (like mobile apps and mashups) easier for those of us without degrees in rocket science. The session is open to Flash developers (and budding designer-developers) of all levels.
Numbers strictly limited so please register here as an attendee to ensure your place.
so when you say "bring along your notebook computers and follow along. If you're on a Mac, you don't need anything else" do you really mean that my mbp, which is still pretty much straight out of the box with nowt extra installed, is good to use? like, i need NOTHING extra installed?
We are all meeting at Aral's place -
