Miriam Davidson and Soressa Gardner (music event)
Vocalist Soressa Gardner combines songwriting with elements of electronic
music composition and improvisation. She was recently Artist in Residence
at Co-op Radio and her compositions have been aired on community and
college radio. She is a member of the improvising band Helsinki 8 and
interdisciplinary performance group BODAC. She is currently completing a
music degree at Vancouver Community College. At Blim she will perform with
guitarist Noel Roy and pianist Cat Toren.
Miriam Davidson's music is an unique hybrid of jazz, classical and folk
music genres. She combine all of these styles of music into her
songwriting, singing and piano playing to form a sound that is completely
original. She is influenced by female singer/songwriters such as Veda
Hille, Beth Orton and Sarah Harmer. Performing with her will be Elijah Bak
on guitar and Julie Nishi on harmony vocals.
"...as one song led to another I was somehow captivated. Vocally,
Davidson smashes current singing conventions...this is the stuff cult
faves are made of."
