We have about 50 people watching/attending this event now, so I gave Abir the obligatory warning call. Hopefully that means they'll have extra kegs of Prohibition and Hefeweisen on hand.
I'd been talking with Cygnoir about Crossroads Cafe down on Delancy Street. It's got oodles of space and is far quieter (because they're part of the Delancy Street Foundation, there might not be a liquor license -- the Foundation trains people for new careers after the leave the penal system).
Even if it's game day, the place clears out by 7. It's on the Embarcadero and you can take the N.
50 people at Abir? That sounds like so little fun to me.
I called a manager at Crossroads. They said it was cool.
I emailed Bringo about this. He's in Brazil.
As soon as he changes it, we can public-icize the new locale.
For those of you who are in Berkeley or the East Bay and perhaps due to a possible BART strike or just for wanna do something different...
On Thursday July 7th, Berkeley Resident Photoblogger Valerie J. Cochran of yourwaitressphotos and yours truly of photopia will be meeting in Berkeley for the first ever East Bay Photobloggers Photostroll.
We're meeting at 6:30 pm right at the north east corner of 4th and University in front of Spenger's Grotto and just where the 51 bus stops. Plenty of parking across the street.
An easy leisurely stroll from this industrial part of Berkeley to the Pier to capture the sunset an hour or so after we begin our walk.
We're combining the practice of phototaking by photobloggers with the principles of urban exploration known as a psychogeography.
It's a shame that Abir isn't bigger, but fortunately, for eastbayers it is close to the terminal for all lettered busses, and not too far from GG 10, 80 and 70 busses.
I might have to give this one a miss, unfortunately. I'm not confident of finding parking on a Giants game night and the Transbay Terminal is just a bit farther than I want to wander by myself at night.
And I was so looking forward to meeting Striatic, too. :-(
just as an FYI: I stopped by Cafe Abir yesterday and cancelled our "reservations" for tonight. I told them we'll be back when we're not rolling so deep.
