Work by Gordon Matta-Clark, and Public and Private,

In a special outdoor screening at a dynamic location, this evening is dedicated to artists who use urban environments as the raw material for their work. Gordon Matta-Clark makes large-scale cuts in the walls and floors of houses and city buildings. Filmed in the early days of hip-hop, Manfred Kirchheimer’s “Stations of the Elevated” shows vintage 1980 footage of graffiti art on the traveling subway trains of New York. Meanwhile in 2007 Atlanta, a group of artists named Public and Private give acoustic music performances in carefully chosen abandoned spaces, highlighting the fleeting beauty of our rapidly changing city. Finally, filmmaker Blake Williams provides a newly created, poetic video portrait of Atlanta.

Curator, Andy Ditzler. Presented by Atlanta Celebrates Photography and Frequent Small Meals and hosted by Davis Waldron Fine Art. Reception at 8, films at dusk.
