Based on two of Ruffin's books, 'Soulful Art of African-American Quilts' and 'Opening Day,' the exhibit also features unique memories and short pieces written by Sonie, a master storyteller. Ruffin's quilts draw from a centuries-old wellspring that explores humanity the crux of the African-American experience. She incorporates the boldness of African print fabrics with American print fabrics to create striking designs, inviting viewers to engage in mental and spiritual conversations with her artwork.
