In this unique event Andrew Smith, author of the bestselling Moondust: In Search of the Men Who Fell to Earth, talks to Buzz Aldrin, one of the few people in the world who has stepped onto the moon.

On 20 July 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong landed their lunar module on the Sea of Tranquillity and became the first humans to walk on the Moon.

The flight of Apollo 11 made Aldrin one of the most famous people on earth. In his memoir Magnificent Desolation, published on the 40th anniversary of the moon landings, Buzz Aldrin gives us a harrowing first-person account of the successful lunar landing that came within seconds of failure, as well as the ultimate insider's view of life as one of the superstars of America's space programme. He also opens up with remarkable candour about his more personal trials - and eventual triumphs - back on earth.
