The SMART Art ‘Trash into Treasure’ competition was launched earlier this year with the goal to show the world that discarded items can be re-designed, re-used and re-thought into works of art and every day functional items.
The strongest finalists have been selected by an acclaimed panel of judges that include representatives from both the Art & Environmental Community including: S.F. MOMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Artist in Residence Program at S.F. Recycle, The Independent Film Channel, The Sundance Channel, MTV Intl., as well as environmental luminaries David de Rothschild, Paul Hawken and Annie Leonard.
Lincart Gallery will be showcasing the final selection from the SMART Art Competition for one month, up to and including June 27, 2009. Selected pieces of art will be available for purchase with a percentage to benefit the Sculpt the Future Foundation.
