Tribute to Al Jolson
Friday October 5, 2007 - Sunday October 7, 2007 from 8:00pm - 11:00pm
Egyptian Theatre
6712 Hollywood Boulevard
Los Angeles, California CA Get Directions
Believe it or not, the first sound feature film was made 80 years
ago, and it premiered on October 6, 1927. The film was THE JAZZ
SINGER, and its star was none other than Mr. Al Jolson (1886 - 1950),
known as the World's Greatest Entertainer. To celebrate the 80th anniversary of this landmark film, The American Cinematheque is hosting a weekend
tribute to Al Jolson, in partnership with the Academy of Motion
Picture Arts and Sciences. The weekend features a screening of THE
JAZZ SINGER, a live musical Cabaret performance by Richard "Mr. Tin
Pan Alley" Halpern and much more...
